The short version
Telcoo is a color code reference for telephone cable pairs, from Buknal Enterprise LLC. It tells you what color a pair should be under the North American standard. It can't see the cable in front of you, so verify every pair with proper test equipment and your records before you cut, splice, or move it. Premium is a one-time purchase billed by Apple, with no subscription.
Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Buknal Enterprise LLC ("we," "us") covering the Telcoo – Cable Pair Tool app ("the App"). By downloading or using the App, you accept these terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the "Apple EULA"). If you don't agree, don't use the App.
Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled and forms part of these terms. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live, to use the App.
Your license to use Telcoo
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the Apple EULA and the App Store Terms of Service. You may use it in your own work, including work you do for an employer or customers.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, translate, or create derivative works of the App;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract its source code;
- Sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the App, or bypass the purchase required to unlock Premium features;
- Remove proprietary notices, or use our name, logo, or app icon without permission.
We retain all rights in the App, including its design, content, and trademarks. The color code standard itself is an industry convention and is not claimed by us.
A reference tool, not a test instrument
The App calculates pair, binder, and super binder colors from the pair number and cable count you enter, using the standard North American color code sequence. Its results are only as accurate as your input and are no substitute for testing. In the field, cables may not match the standard: they may be mislabeled, spliced out of sequence, damaged, faded, mixed-count, or built by manufacturers or older plants that used different conventions.
Before you cut, splice, transfer, cross-connect, or otherwise disturb a pair, confirm its identity with appropriate test equipment such as a tone generator and probe, and check it against your work order, cable records, and your employer's or carrier's procedures. Those procedures take priority over the App.
You are solely responsible for the work you perform, and for any service outage, damage to customer or third-party equipment, or cost resulting from a pair that was misidentified, whatever the App displayed.
Field safety
Telephone and outside plant work carries real hazards. Pairs can carry ringing voltage and line power, and aerial and underground plant may be near electrical power lines, traffic, and confined or elevated work areas. The App provides no safety guidance.
Follow OSHA and all other applicable safety rules, your employer's safety program, and the training you have received. Don't use your phone in a way that distracts you on a ladder or pole, in a bucket truck, in traffic, or while driving.
Acceptable use
Use the App lawfully. Don't use it to access, tap, or tamper with any cable, line, or network you aren't authorized to work on, or to interfere with the App's security or its purchase system.
Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its color codes or pair numbers will match any particular cable in the field.
Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Buknal Enterprise LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the App. This includes damage or loss relating to:
- Pairs that were cut, spliced, transferred, or connected based on a result from the App;
- Service outages, dropped circuits, or interruption to customers or third parties;
- Damage to cables, terminals, pedestals, or other plant or equipment;
- Rework, labor costs, penalties, or disciplinary action;
- Incorrect results caused by incorrect input or by cables that don't follow the standard;
- Personal injury or property damage from field work, except where the law doesn't allow this to be limited.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim, or $50 USD. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Apple's role
This agreement is between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the App. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim that the App or your use of it infringes intellectual property rights, and for product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal requirements, and claims under consumer protection or similar laws, to the extent the law allows. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including the disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law, survive it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, this doesn't deprive you of the protections of the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the App changes. The updated version takes effect when posted on this page, with a revised "Last updated" date. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the new terms.
